PMMA

以甲基丙烯酸甲酯單體(MMA)為主要原料，而製造成功之模塑料具有良好之耐候性與耐熱性，更有極高之透明度，表面硬度與光澤度及穩定之物理、化學、光學與電氣性質，其成型品美觀有塑膠皇后之稱(Plastic Queen)。
特性如下：

1. 輕：僅及無機玻璃比重之1/2，sp.gr：1.19。
2. 光學性質特優：在注射灌飽模之狀況下，透光率高達92%(厚度3mm)，兩面反射各4%，屈折率僅次於玻璃。
3. 強韌：引張強度大於700 k g/c㎡。
4. 硬：所有合成塑膠中表面硬度最高。
5. 電氣性質優良：絕緣特性佳。
6. 耐後性特優。
7. 無毒性。

PMMA粒的加工一般為注射成型亦可押出或壓縮成型，成型溫度約在170~240℃間，其特別注意點如下：

1. 吸濕性特高：浸入水中24 Hrs 0.35%水分吸收，48 Hrs 則高達2%；加工成型前預備乾燥是必需的，預備乾燥溫度需低於樹脂粒軟化點10~15℃，乾燥時間4~6 Hrs 加工前水分射出≦0.05%，押出≦0.02%。
2. 成型加工溫度注意不可過高，因PMMA力有天花板溫度(ceiling temperature)，超過會產生解重合反應，成型品會有燒焦、氣泡現象發生。
3. 互混性：高溫料不可以與中低溫料混合。

二次加工因表面光滑亦無法電鍍，但能塗裝真空蒸(燙金)及印刷，產品溶接時可用氯化甲烷(Methylene Chloride)，亦可使用超音波溶接。
